Yes, it's been a while.....for many reasons. We have been in the States and I have had limited computer access. another reason was I needed to reflect on what a blog really is- an invitation into our personal life from anyone who wants to read about it-or criticise it! For me, I am an open book and very uncalculated in my writing. My concern was some recent criticism my children recieved over the "Grand Mosque" posting. Mama Bear syndrome. I decided I don't give a flying **** and it almost made me angry. If you don't like what we are saying or doing- don't read it. That simple. Ok, so, feeling better on that front.....
Our visit in the States has been a whirlwind. Flew into DC and straight to the Barbers where Chris brother and his family came down from Buffalo. It was great for Luke and Layne to see cousins they don't see very often. After a few days of R and R we began our roadtrip, first to Amanda and CHarlie's for 4 days in Fredericskburg. Kids had a blast with Julain and Dahlia and we went strawberry picking, to the park and just hung out. They are a great family to just chill with-it was perfect. Got to spend some time with my Cabell and crew which is always great. We have 6 kids between us and we decided we just never get tired of hanging out together. Spent 2 weeks in Richmond with the Parkers. Took the kids to the Renaissance festival, CHildren'sMuseum, Va. Aviation Museum, Maymont Nature park....just LOVE Richmond. Also spent the night with DonnaMarie and her family before heading to VB. Kids loved the beach this year and we stayed with CHeryl most of the time. We usually stay with Sharon, so it was nice to reconnect with my big sister. Joey graduated from high school (can't believe that) and Trey taught Luke to skim board. Cecilia's kids are growing like weeds and Layne had her first sleep over with cousin Maggie. Back up to Frederick to spend the final 2 weeks with Judy. Lots of shopping to get done. I also took the kids downtown to Washington to see the monuments and a few of the museums. Went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore with Grandma Judy one day as well. so, it was just nuts. Way too long to be away from Chris, although he did come down from New Jersey for one weekend. Not sure we'll continue these long summer breaks in the states, but glad we did it this year.
Our last it of new is we are consdering buying a log home in Western Md. where we can go when we do come home. That way everyone can come to us and we can all get a little vacation in...more on that soon.
