We just got back to Bahrain from a few days in Dubai. Dubai is one BIG shooping mall. Definately not for my taste. We stay at the Kempinski Hotel-gorgeous 5 star hotel, so who can complain.?? Seriously, from the moment you walk in, you dont have to see daylight for days!! It is attached the the very large Mall of the Emirates with tons of restaurants, shops, play areas and the Dubai Skiing indoor mountain. Not seeing the sun; disturbing on many levels for sure. We have had sandstorms all over the Middle East lately so it wasnt a bad thing- this time. Luke wanted to go skiing for his birthday. I have to say as with all things athletic, the Barber gene pool kicks in! He's a natural!! He and Layne took lessons the first day. The second day Luke was running the biggest slopes with Chris. Layne was happy to play in the snow and later went sledding with Chris. I had a bad cold (first in a long time) along with 75% of the middle eastern population due to the poor air quality we've had. Came home to a happy Angel and a clean and organized house! Our friend Krishna, the maintenance man here at Al Hilal, took his responsibility of looking after Angel VERY seriously! Berlin, our part time housemaid, was apparently tired of the clutter which has accumulated since I have been homeschooling. We came home to perfectly organized drawers, closets, refirgerator, cabinets, you name it! They are both gems and take great pride in their "duty". Couldnt be here without them for sure.
