Sick Days

We came home from Dubai with bad bad colds-what the generic term for it here is "flu". We are on the mend after fevers etc but still going slow. The standard for being sick, especially sick with kids, is to crash on the couch in front of the TV. While sometimes this is all we have the energy to do ( and Luke and I watched 2 movies yesterday and sent Layne off with a friend), today is till a recoup "Pajama" Day. Here's what we did to avoid the TV:

Listened to several JIM WEISS CD's ( he's an amazing storyteller with CD's of Tom Sawyer, Greek Myths, Elizabeth 1 (Lukes Fav.!) and more) My kids are mesmorized and either lay on the couch listening or engage in quiet play while listening. They did this while I took a nap the other day and were quiet as mice for an hour
Luke and I laid on the couch together under blankets and did some of his homeschool work-reading history and some Math. Layne and I did the same.
We got up for a half hour and made some potent garlic soup!!
We listened to John Denver and colored.
All 3 of us took a nap together
We sat out on the porch under blankets and watched the birds play
No, we arent the Waltons, but we do enjoy being together and none of us feels well. The energy the TV brings doesnt work for us. We need to be slow and lazy for our healing time. It really has been a great day and the kids are fine. Im still dragging a bit but am hoping the garlic soup will do the trick!
